[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for FBI Season 6 Episode 9 “Best Laid Plans.”] There’s nothing like a dangerous undercover case to convince an agent that a couple flying to a friend’s wedding together isn’t too much of a risk. Such is the case for Scola (John Boyd) on FBI. When the episode begins, Scola thinks he and Nina should travel separately to a friend’s wedding rather than risk the lives of both of Dougie’s parents on the same flight. But as she points out, they both put their lives at risk at work—and then they end up doing just that on the same case, when one of her informants is connected to FBI‘s investigation. As a result, Scola and Nina go undercover together. After that, Scola decides he’s okay with them flying together to the wedding. And without that, he wouldn’t have reached ...

“What could go wrong?” As soon as Scola (John Boyd) asks that question in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the April 16 episode of FBI, we can’t help but think the answer will be that everything will go wrong. In “Best Laid Plans,” Most Wanted‘s Shantel VanSanten crosses over when Nina’s informant is connected to a case involving the torture and murder of a retired FBI agent working a security job. Scola and Nina then go undercover as a married couple deep in the diamond game as the team tries to find out who’s responsible, In our clip, Scola joins Nina and Maggie (Missy Peregrym) at a safe house where nothing is as it seems. There’s the hidden safe room. There’s the fake baby. There’s also the fact that some of the money that Scola’s brought is fake, which could be a problem.

The Visual Effects Society Awards were handed out during a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, April 6. “The Midnight Sky” won the Ves equivalent of the Best Picture race – Best Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. It bested Oscar frontrunner “Tenet” in that category, as well as “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey,” “Project Power” and “The Witches.” George Clooney‘s sci-fi drama won an additional prize for Best Model in a Photoreal of Animated Project. Scroll down for a complete list of winners and nominees at the 2021 Visual Effects Society Awards.

It’s truly a measure of the pandemic that the 19th annual Ves Awards (to be held virtually on April 6) was dominated by Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” with 13 nominations (topped by photoreal episode). Like the Oscar shortlist, there was an absence of big budget, VFX-intensive studio films. But, truth be told, Season 2 of Jon Favreau’s engaging “Star Wars” bounty hunter series offered the industry’s most innovative tech (wrapped around Industrial Light & Magic’s improved StageCraft virtual production system).
Pixar’s “Soul” was the top animation contender with five nominations, while the feature competition was split between “Project Power,” the Netflix superhero film, Robert Zemeckis’ “The Witches” (which streamed on HBO Max), and Disney’s live-action “Mulan” (which streamed on Disney+), each garnering three nominations.

Since debuting in 2013, “Vikings” has amassed 13 Emmy nominations. That’s impressive in the era of peak TV, when shows can easily fall off voters’ radar amid the glut of new programming, networks and streaming services crowding the field more and more every year. Best laid plans, right, HBO? On Thursday, the cable network sent out a press release that the premiere date for the highly-anticipated seventh season of Game of Thrones would be revealed during a special live broadcast on the show's Facebook page. To say that things didn't go smoothly would be an understatement. After two pauses in the live feed (to brainstorm how the hell they'd get this ice to melt faster?), it wasn't until a full hour had passed—longer than the run time of a typical...

We begin tonight’s Mistresses recap with a trip back to 1987 — when Murder, She Wrote and Moonlighting ranked among the Top 10 network shows, Fatal Attraction burned up the box office and the lilting voice of Suzanne Vega dominated radio for a minute. How did that song go, again?

The Flash Season 1, Episode 20: “The Trap”
Written by Alison Schapker & Brooke Eikmeier
Directed by Steve Shill
Tuesdays at 8pm Et on the CW
In “The Trap”, Barry and his team have found the secret room of Harrison Wells, and with it the secrets he has been hiding all along. They put together a plan to get Wells to confess to murdering Barry’s mother and help clear his father’s name once and for all. As they set a trap to lure Wells into telling everything, who is really trapping who?
It is getting tiring to have to begin every review with “the group tries to figure out the mystery of Harrison Wells.” The continuous overall plot of the last few episodes has been convincing everyone that Wells is up to no good. That is no longer the case. Everyone is on-board the “Harrison Wells is the Reverse-Flash!?!” train,...

ABC's Once Upon a Time has always been about the courageous daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, Emma Swan, saving the day.Yet in "Poor Unfortunate Soul" Ursula told Hook -- and by extension the audience -- that Rumple plans to turn Emma evil. In "Best Laid Plans" Once Upon a Time went one step further to making that plan become a reality. It definitely looks like this season could involve The Savior becoming the next Queen of Darkness, but is this a good idea? Let's look a that pros and cons of turning Emma evil.

We already knew that Snow White and Charming did a horrible thing to Maleficent's baby, but in "Best Laid Plans," we find out exactly what they did to ensure that their child, Emma, stays good and heroic. And it's not pretty. Meanwhile, Henry gets closer to releasing the author than ever before, but that's not necessarily a good thing. And Regina's jig is up as she tries to pull one over on Gold.

Exclusive: It’s tempting to say that Alessandro Nivola lives a charmed life, and that might be true if he weren’t working so hard. He’s Zelig in plain sight: At this moment in time you can see him in Selma as Justice Department civil rights lawyer John Doar, who would become the lead prosecutor in the government’s case against the murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner. And you can see him on the other side of the mirror, as a mobbed-up oil distributor and bete noir of Oscar Isaacs in A Most Violent Year. He played another nemesis, FBI agent Anthony Amado, on the trail of Bradley Cooper in American Hustle. And he’s still batting it around with Cooper, but now on Broadway, where he plays Frederick Treves, the humanistic doctor who rescues Cooper’s John Merrick – Aka the Elephant Man – from life in a freak show booth.

For this week’s brand new spotlight piece, I wanted to cite an A-lister who is having one really good 2014, to say the least. It’s Reese Witherspoon, an Academy Award winning actress who only this year is finally solidifying her status not just as a star, but as a supremely talented actress as well. It’s high time too, as she’s given more top quality performances than a lot of people realize. From some of her early work to the performance that won her the Oscar, Witherspoon has become a deserving member of the A-list, though someone who doesn’t always get the credit that she truly deserves. As such, it’s only appropriate today to put the spotlight on her. Here we go… Witherspoon got her start with a few head turning roles in smaller films, starting with The Man in the Moon, followed by A Far Off Place and Freeway,...

When it comes to surveillance video, it's hard to get more disorienting than transitioning from a LiveStream in Ferguson, Missouri to CBS' voyeuristic "Big Brother" and it saddens me that that's what I find myself doing tonight. Between this unfortunate media juxtaposition and some exhausting travel, I can't say that I'm all that involved with what's going down on Sunday's (August 17) "Big Brother," but the job is the job... So let's watch what happens! 8:03 p.m. Oh right. Derrick and Frankie won Head of Household when we left things on Thursday. Interesting... "Big Brother" Voice-Over Man says that tonight will be the last Battle of the Block of the summer. 8:04 p.m. There are only eight people left in the House and Frankie notes that six of them are in his alliance, which means alliance-mates are going up on the Block. Caleb tells us that Victoria and Donny are the obvious targets,...

Taking an early and bossy lead on a failed Day One project is usually a decent recipe for being voted off early on "Survivor." Being viewed as the weakest player on a weak tribe is usually a decent recipe for being voted off early on "Survivor." Seemingly being on the low side of a numbers alliance is also usually a decent recipe for being voted off early on "Survivor." Going just a bit cuckoo-bananas and dumping most of your tribe's rice into the fire? Surely that's a fantastic recipe for getting voted off early on "Survivor." In retrospect, it probably isn't surprising that my exit interview with J'Tia Taylor came early in this "Survivor: Cagayan" season. The shocking thing is that J'Tia managed not to be the first or second person voted out of her Brains Tribe. In fact, the Chicago-based nuclear engineer survived one surprising vote, one genuinely shocking vote and,...

Obsidian's espionage title has come under plenty of fire, but is it still worth a look?
Taking the premise of a very successful title and retooling it for your own needs is very common in the world of gaming. Clones of successful games are released time and time again, and these copies of other people's winning formulae can lead to equally great games. Then again, they can also produce third-rate knock-offs, which is the pigeon hole in which many people place Obsidian's Alpha Protocol.
Taking BioWare's excellent Mass Effect as a starting point, Obsidian wanted to create a real world espionage RPG that put the player in the shoes of a super secret agent. The game would take in sights from around the world, mix in stealth and gunplay and feature a heavily story-driven campaign with previously unheard of levels of user interaction. This...

As the episodes have been doing recently, we picked pretty close to where we left off. Which means we had the return of Calvin Schmidt, who was even more whiny this week (if it’s possible) than he was last week.
Speaking of whining (my own this time), I officially hate Olivia Riley, and the reason I hate her is that she is as good as Michael is but doesn't seem to have his moral compass. Don’t get me wrong, I know she isn't doing anything illegal, but it seems no matter what Madeline did, she kept destroying her "Best Laid Plans."
Which led to Michael inviting her to go with them on the run to Budapest, or Mumbai, or some other place that’s not Miami (yes, I know it was Buenos Aries), which made for an interesting counter point to events with Elsa and Sam.

Best Laid Plans: Piterbarg Gets Double the Mortensen in Debut
Argentinean director Ana Piterbarg nabs Viggo Mortensen for dual roles in her debut, a slow burn identity thriller, Everybody Has a Plan. Mortensen, having appeared in three previous Spanish speaking features, is a fellow countryman of Piterbarg, having spent his childhood in Argentina. The resulting collaboration may be disappointing to some, as this is a simmering, psychological thriller that banks mostly on constant discomfort and a slowly building menace that permeates the narrative, but this only serves to make the film a unique, fascinating, noir-tinged exercise in the swamps.
Agustin (Mortensen) stars as a doctor in Buenos Aires, who we quickly learn is in a floundering marriage with Claudia (Soledad Villamil). They are about to adopt a baby, something that Claudia is apparently passionate about, a plan that has been gestating for some time. But it turns out that...

Poor Kurt Wallander. Last time we saw him, the lugubrious Swede was desperate for a quiet life, wanting nothing more than to leave his work life in the office, and spend the evening with a warm glass of red and on-off now firmly on girlfriend Vanja (Saskia Reeves) by his side.
Wallander's back - apparently, he's a cheerful person "on the inside"
Best laid plans and all that… no sooner had the packing boxes been parked in the new rustic idyll than the plonkety-plonk ring tone on his phone was sounding, and a young woman had been washed up on a beach. And if he thought he could sneak home to a roaring fire and that inviting glass of red, even his own dog had other ideas, digging up bones in his brand new back garden.
“Thought you were trying not to take your work home with you,” said his colleague.

Another week, another Monday. So it’s time for the rundown of DVDs and Blu-rays hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s another packed week, with plenty of movies waiting to take you money, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, February 20th 2012.
Pick Of The Week
Fright Night 3D (DVD/Blu-ray)
Meet the sexy new neighbour, Jerry Dandrige (Colin Farrell). He’s dangerously charming – and utterly lethal. That’s because he just happens to be a vampire, and out for blood…buckets of it. After high school senior Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) makes the connection between Jerry’s suspicious activity and a steadily rising body count, he vows to end the reign of terror next door. But he can’t do it alone. His only hope is Las Vegas magician/vampire-slayer Peter Vincent (David Tennant). Together,...

With the exception of the overlooked Young Adult and Martha Marcy May Marlene everything seems pretty much in order this week. Chronicle goes straight in at number one, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island pulling in the family audience and Jack and Jill gaining a well deserved and generous haul of almost a million pounds. Wait, what? Jack and Jill is the worst thing ever committed to celluloid since Grown Ups. And people are watching it? Oh God…Where are the codes to the nukes?
The Winner – Chronicle
So, it’s finally happened. After three weeks at the top War Horse has finally fallen out of the top three so if you had an each-way bet on for it this week you’re fresh out of luck I’m afraid. Stepping into the top spot however is Chronicle, Josh Trank’s superb and relatively low budget superhero thriller that’s tailor-made...

Youngest director to helm a chart-topping movie pushes Jack and Jill down the hill with Man on a Ledge coming tumbling after
The winner
On a weekend that saw a highly diverse set of new releases whose rankings weren't necessarily so easy to predict, low-budget sci-fi Chronicle won the day with £2.19m, including Wednesday/Thursday previews of £617,000. The high-school lads with superpowers edged out family-friendly adventure sequel Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Adam Sandler cross-dressing comedy Jack and Jill, Sam Worthington thriller Man on a Ledge and a whole new batch of awards contenders arriving in an already crowded market.
With Chronicle also nabbing first place in the Us, the film's 26-year-old director Josh Trank has been hailed as the youngest ever to helm a chart-topping movie. Following the likes of Cloverfield, District 9 and Paranormal Activity, Chronicle is another reminder that a clever concept, well executed and marketed, can...

Chronicle (12A)
(Josh Trank, 2012, Us) Dane DeHaan, Michael B Jordan, Alex Russell, Michael Kelly. 83 mins
It's one of those forehead-slapping, "why didn't We think of this?" ideas: a low-budget, found-footage teen superhero movie. Think Paranormal Activity meets Misfits, or Kick-Ass meets Jackass, as three ordinary boys acquire powers but not the responsibility that comes with them. They start off with mischievous pranks, then progress to … well, part of the fun is that this is a movie out of nowhere. Pick holes in it later, but first enjoy the surprise!
Carnage (15)
(Roman Polanski, 2011, Fra/Ger/Pol/Spa) Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, Christoph Waltz, John C Reilly. 80 mins
Four actors, two couples, one apartment, and the stage is set for a face-off that goes from sober, civilised and trivial to the exact opposite in no time. Adapted from a play, it's still pretty theatrical, but as chamber pieces go, sporadically sharp and funny.

The Descendants (15)
(Alexander Payne, 2011, Us) George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller, Nick Krause, Robert Forster. 115 mins
A sideways move from Sideways takes Payne on another tour of masculine crises, though this has mellowed and matured for longer. Family issues jolt Clooney out of his Hawaiian comfort zone. His wife's sudden coma puts him in charge of their two daughters, and brings their marriage into perspective, while his control of the ancestral estate adds to the burden. It's a well-rooted drama of great performances and big themes (and probably big awards).
Like Crazy (12A)
(Drake Doremus, 2011, Us) Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence. 90 mins
Young love sees no colour, but it must abide by visa regulations in this cross-Atlantic romantic saga, which tests a couple's endurance in an offbeat, indie style.
The Grey (15)
(Joe Carnahan, 2012, Us) Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo. 117 mins
Liam Neeson v wolves – seems like a good match.

Rookie Blue taught us all a lesson this week: be wary of popping too many pain pills.
Because you might get addicted? Nah. Because you might spill your sweet guts out to a fellow officer's girlfriend! Such was the case for Dov on "Brotherhood."
What repercussions might come about next Thursday? Look for an altercation between Dov and Chris over Gail, along with Andy assisting a woman critically injured in a car accident. The installment is titled "Best Laid Plans" and this is the official trailer:

Director/writer: Brett Simmons.
Husk was originally a five minute short from director Brett Simmons in 2005. This title was re-worked into a full feature with help from After Dark Films. This film was released into theatres January 28th and recently, there have been a couple showings of Husk on the SyFy Network. Now, 28Dla.com finds itself lost in the cornfields and this is a where a horror fan wants to be.
Being lost in the corn creates tension, because five twenty-somethings find themselves fending off pitchfork attacks, kamikaze crows and masked scarecrows. The action is quick to begin and soon, a mythos is developed of a murdering brother in the corn rows. The psalm Genesis 4:11 will clue viewers in to the Cain and Abel story of curses, while the characters run for their soon to be ended lives in never ending stalks of corn.

Director: Marcus Dunstan. Review: Adam Wing. Last night my girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary together. Its been seven unforgettable years since she jumped on me in a seedy nightclub, seven years to the day since she swore she’d never get that drunk again. So me, being the old romantic that I am, chose to celebrate the occasion by cooking for her, buying her flowers - all the usual hackneyed clichés that girls enjoy. Guys like them too by the way, just putting it out there. Maybe not the flowers, but I’ll never say no to expensive chocolates and cheap wine. Work commitments meant that a night out was off the menu, so I decided that a romantic movie was the best way to go. Best laid plans and all that, when I arrived at the local supermarket I had what can best be described as an epiphany.
