Thomas Ayad, Mercury Records Executive, Killed in Paris Concert Hall Attack
Eagles Of Death Metal
Thomas Ayad, an international product manager for Mercury Records, was killed while attending an Eagles of Death Metal concert at Le Bataclan on Friday during the Paris terror attacks, according to media reports. Universal Music Group chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge confirmed the sad news in a letter to staffers on Saturday. Ayad, 34, was one of several Umg/Mercury team members who attended the Eagles of Death Metal concert, though he is currently the only confirmed casualty among the group, as all the band’s members survived the terrifying attack. Paris Attacks: How Us, European Newspapers Covered the Story (Photos)
Jack Scalia in Act of War (1998)
The series of coordinated Isis attacks that besieged Paris on Friday night began just hours before European newspapers went to press, leaving them with little more than the images of carnage and preliminary casualty tolls to report. By the time U.S. outlets hit deadline, more details had emerged, informing — in some but not all cases — more sober front-page coverage of the attacks, which most recent figures indicate have claimed 129 lives and more than 350 injuries. Here’s how French, U.K., German and U.S. papers led their coverage… Also Read: Paris Attacks: Isis Claims Responsibility as French President Denounces...

Paris Attacks: Isis Claims Responsibility
Jack Scalia in Act of War (1998)
Isis said Saturday that it was responsible for Friday night's attacks in Paris that have so far left more than 120 dead. In a statement, released in French and Arabic, the Islamic State said that “soldiers of Caliphate targeted the capital of abomination and perversion.” The Caliphate is the name Isis has given to the territory under its control. The news was widely reported mid-day Paris time by the BBC, Sky News and others, which translated the statement into English. { "nid": 840272, "type": "news", "title": "French President Calls Paris Attacks "Act of War" by Isis", "path": "http://www.

Watch: Trailer For 'The Interview' As Directed by Kim Jong-un
While there are some who will naively argue that the kerfuffle around the release of Seth Rogen and James Franco's "The Interview" was nothing more than a masterful publicity stunt, it can't be debated that the attention did turn the movie into something of a cause celebre. Watching the movie allowed you to shake your first at North Korea from the comfort of your own home, and lots of people opened up their wallets to protest. In fact, Sony revealed earlier this week that they pocketed $31 million in digital sales and rentals since the movie officially dropped online on Dec. 24th. But as many folks who have seen the movie by now have realized, the political satire of "The Interview" is mild at best -- it's basically your standard Rogen/Franco joint, just abroad. But this trailer remix is a bit more pointed. YouTube user MrStratman7 has cut together...

John Hinckley Jr. Avoids Murder Charge for Death of Former Press Secretary James Brady
James Brady
John W. Hinckley Jr. won’t be charged for the murder of James Brady, federal prosecutors revealed on Friday. Medical examiners attributed the former Press Secretary’s August death to gunshot wounds incurred during the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981, but prosecutors will not charge Hinckley with the homicide since the courts have previously deemed him insane.

“Hinckley would be entitled to a directed verdict that he was not guilty of the murder of Mr. Brady by reason of insanity,” wrote Ronald C. Machen, U.S. District Attorney for Washington D.C., in a statement. “Furthermore, a homicide...

9 Imaginary Snapchats From Sasha and Malia Obama (Photos)
Barack Obama
The Obama Girls aren’t having any fun, according to everyone from venomous congressional staff to the New York Times.

Often dramatic and at times baseless accounts of their bad attitudes have been proliferated since November, most recently in a memo documenting how Sasha and Malia are totally over their Hawaiian Christmas vacation.

Insider: Sony Denies NY Post Story Claiming It Will Release ‘The Interview’ on Crackle
James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Randall Park in The Interview (2014)
Sony Pictures has now indicating its intention to distribute “The Interview” in some way after scrapping its original Dec. 25 theatrical release, but that doesn’t mean it’s coming to the company’s streaming video service Crackle. New York Post’s report on Sunday claiming that Sony intends to make it available for free on Crackle is “not true,” an insider told TheWrap. The Post has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.

North Korea Says Us Behind ‘The Interview,’ Threatens to ‘Blow Up’ White House
James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Randall Park in The Interview (2014)
North Korea on Sunday threatened to blow up “the White House, the Pentagon and the whole mainland” if President Obama retaliates for the Sony Pictures cyberattack.

The U.S. government “conceived and produced” the movie “The Interview” along with Sony, the government charged in a statement carried on the state-run Korean Central News Agency (Kcna), according to a translation by CNN.

“Nothing is more serious miscalculation than guessing that just a single movie production company is the target of this counteraction,” the statement said. “Our target is all the citadels of the U.S. imperialists who earned the bitterest grudge of all Koreans.

Sony Hit With Fifth Class-Action Lawsuit Following Cyberattack
Barack Obama
A fifth class-action lawsuit has been filed by a former employee of Sony Pictures, alleging the Culver City studio failed to protect the personal information of its staff from computer hackers.

In legal papers filed Friday and obtained by TheWrap, the plaintiff identified only as Jane Doe, claimed in Los Angeles Superior Court that her personal information was posted online in November and again this month.

“Sony is frequently the subject of data breaches and despite the known damage such breaches have caused in recent years, Sony has failed to implement and maintain adequate and advanced data security and data management systems and policies,...

President Obama Insists Sony Hack Is ‘Cyber Vandalism,’ Not ‘Act of War’ (Video)
James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Randall Park in The Interview (2014)
President Barack Obama doesn’t think North Korea’s hack of Sony Pictures Entertainment is “an act of war,” but he certainly considers it a brazen crime.

“I think it was an act of cyber vandalism that was very costly, very expensive,” the President said in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Candy Crowley. “We take it very seriously. We will respond proportionately, as I said,” he added.

Mr. Obama also repeated his criticism of Sony for deciding not to release “The Interview” in theaters.

“I was pretty sympathetic to the fact that...

Megan Follows, Rachel Skarsten, and Adelaide Kane in Reign (2013)
Woah, Did the CW's Most Disturbing Scene Ever Go Too Far?
Megan Follows, Rachel Skarsten, and Adelaide Kane in Reign (2013)
Speechless. That's basically what we were at the end of Reign's Dec. 4 episode, which included the headline-making series' most controversial and shocking storyline yet. Warning, major spoilers ahead. In the CW hit's episode "Act of War," Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane) was attacked and raped by a group of Protestant soldiers who invaded the castle in a truly horrifying scene that was difficult to watch. After holding her hostage while attempting to find Francis (Toby Regbo), one man, whose child died in last week's episode, raped Mary while another soldier held her down. Eventually, she was able to grab one of their weapons and escape before the second man could also...

'Sons Of Anarchy' Recap: Jax Wages War; Gemma Quiet About Involvement In Tara's Death
Sons of Anarchy’s seventh and final season opens with Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) behind bars, beating up a Neo-Nazi in an effort to meet with the leader of the Aryan prison tribe Ron Rully (Marilyn Manson). Meanwhile, Gemma (Katey Sagal) is watching his sons and Unser (Dayton Callie) is at Tara's grave.

Sons of Anarchy Recap

At County, Jax gets a visit from Da Patterson (Cch Pounder) and Gemma. Gemma, acting as a sort of go-between, tells Patterson that Jax isn’t going to be eager to talk, having found the woman he loved – loved enough to turn himself in – dead just 10 days ago. Understanding Jax’s pain, having lost relatives to gang violence, Patterson says he can empathize with wanting to exact revenge on those who took loved ones away from them, but that tallying up his own kills will only breed ongoing chaos and death.

In the car ride home from Country,...
