- Gustave Sors: What happened?
- Ivan Sors: He said he was a Hungarian officer. He didn't admit that he was a jew.
- Gustave Sors: That's why they killed him? How many were there?
- Ivan Sors: Three military police.
- Gustave Sors: How many were you?
- Ivan Sors: I don't remember... maybe two thousand.
- Gustave Sors: And there were only three of them?
- Ivan Sors: There were ten more guards in the camp.
- Gustave Sors: How could thirteen guards hold back two thousand people?
- Ivan Sors: They had guns.
- Gustave Sors: Why didn't you run at them? Grabbed their guns? One or two might be shot, you could have had them in a minute, you could have escaped.
- Ivan Sors: And go where?
- Gustave Sors: Anywhere.
- Ivan Sors: There was no place to go.
- Gustave Sors: People would have hidden you. In France, they hid us.
- Ivan Sors: [tearfully] People either hated us or were scared of us. If we were to survive, we had to stay together as a group.
- Gustave Sors: And you just stood there and watched them kill your father?
- Ivan Sors: No... they didn't know I was his son... they... they had to hold me down...
- Gustave Sors: So what did you do?
- Valerie Sors: Enough!
- Ivan Sors: [sobbing] Nothing! I just stood there! That's all I could do! I could do nothing!
