The series was a regular component during the second season of The Krofft Supershow (1976). Each installment was 15-minutes long, with cliffhanger endings resolved the following week. It became its own 30-minute series for twelve weeks in 1979. The sixteen "Supershow" segments were combined into eight episodes for reruns, resulting in a total of twenty full-length episodes.
Only two releases were available in the 1980s by Embassy Video, "Bigfoot and Wildboy Volume One" and "Bigfoot and Wildboy Volume Two." Both are now out of print. Columbia House released The World Of Sid and Marty Krofft series, which contained Bigfoot and Wildboy episodes. Rhino Video released a three-DVD collection also called The World Of Sid and Marty Krofft in 2002 included "The Return Of The Vampire" episode.
This was the first Krofft Brothers show to be shot on film rather than videotape since H.R. Pufnstuf (1969), and the first Krofft show that was filmed on location.
Joseph Butcher's (WildBoy) first film role was in 1976's "Hollywood High"..he played Buzz..his second role was in The Waltons season 6 "The "Recluse" as Anson Adams..his 3rd Role was WildBoy in "BigFoot And WildBoy" his final role was in the Knots Landing "Home Is For Healing" playing Terry an English musician...he left acting..he did return to Hollywood in 1990 to direct a movie called "In Your Face".. Mr. Butcher sent a life long fan 2 signed pictures, a never before seen WildBoy publicity picture from BigFoot And WildBoy, a smaller picture and a BF&WB comic book..
Joseph Butcher responded to a life long fans request for an autograph..47 years later Mr. Butcher is still "the sweetest Man to walk this planet" photo can be seen in the photo section.
