Out 2 Lunch

The most pathetic-looking and worst high-school film of all time.

This amazingly lame piece of crap is nearly 20 years old, yet I'm the first one to comment on it on this site. Not only that, but you'll have noticed - oh ye one or two persons who read this comment in the next 20 years - that the movie doesn't even have enough votes for an IMDb average. However, I am not really that surprised.

I used to think that "Fame" had by far the ugliest cast of young people, but they're all beauty queens and studs compared to this sorry bunch. The dialogues are just plain laughable; so bad that they couldn't have been written: let's just say they were probably improvised by some very low I.Q.s high on crack. The acting is atrocious; bad, at best. To top it all of, there is an awful 80s soundtrack which consists of non-hits/flops, the kids are all in very extremely cheesy 80s gear (too cheap-looking even for that decade), and the movie has that ugly look of a really lousy 80s film.

But all of that could be PARTLY overlooked if it weren't for the unbelievably hideous-looking kids which infest this poor school. Some of the girls are so ugly they cannot even play the ugly ducklings in "regular" teen films. The cheapness of this crap-o-rama has to be seen to be believed.

What was the budget? Was it financed solely by selling empty beer cans? Awful.

If you happen to have a copy of this turd, e-mail me.

TERRIFIC 80's TEEN FILM

As a professional Literary Manager I found this extremely low budget film made with help from the many film industry people to be unpretentious, entertaining, and surprisngly well made considering its inexperienced crew and director, as well as its non-professional cast & who based on my due diligence were mostly Junior High School students without any acting experience nor training, very well acted. I was therefore SHOCKED by the previous venomous review - which seems to have been written by someone with a personal vendetta against the filmmakers and therefore, in my opinion, should be disregarded.

Would like to see it again

I first saw this on TV a couple of years after it was released, I must have been 11 or 12 years old. My memories are not detailed, but I did like it. It had a happy vibe to it, it was about high school which was a hot subject with me at the time; I enjoyed myself and it made me feel good. I have no recollection of the girls (or any of the boys, for that matter) being "ugly" as noted by the first reviewer, nor would I have found it even remotely relevant had it been true. Out 2 Lunch wasn't a movie where the male viewers are supposed to get all hot and bothered, it was kids entertainment. For what it's worth, the guy who played the lead role (Lenny Gonzalez) was interesting looking enough to make quite an impression on me at the time. I'd love to see the movie again now - curious if I'll still feel the same way I did when my age actually matched that of its target audience.
