Storyline

- TriviaFor a long time, it was reported that the special was never rerun because Garfield was used without the permission of his creator, Jim Davis. Garfield and Friends (1988) writer Mark Evanier stated that Davis approved of Garfield's appearance, but the special could only be shown for a limited time as part of the agreement.
- GoofsSome of the cartoon characters are explained as being in "the real world" by being represented as toys that magically come to life, or as characters on a comic book page, but several others simply show up in their cartoon form with no explanation whatsoever.
- Crazy creditsWhen the special is originally aired on the television, the copyright notice for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" characters is not shown, but however it was corrected and it was later added to the home video release.
- Alternate versionsWhen Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue (1990) went to VHS (the same season and year it was broadcast), the "Playboy" magazine laying open on Corey's dad's workbench (as it showed explicit results of a woman) is edited out to avoid controversy towards attended audiences.

I am almost 17 years of age, which means, yes, I not only watched this way back when, but I still have it taped. Of course, back then, I didn't care about the anti-drug message, I just cared about seeing all my TV heroes: The Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Kermit, The Chipmunks, etc. Of course, now I actually sort of UNDERSTAND what's going on there. In retrospect, it seems kinda silly that they'd give a big anti-drug message aimed at 4-7 year olds, but they did, and I don't do drugs, so I guess they did something right.
