Loafer (1973)

Trivia

Loafer

Edit
Remake of Pocket of Miracles and Lady For A Day.
The film was originally offered to Ratan Chopra.
Leading lady Mumtaz Askari said that when she saw the rushes, she thought the film would flop, but it became one of the biggest hits of 1973.
The stars Dharmendra and Mumtaz Askari reenacted the hit song from this film "Main Tere Ishq Mein" on the television show Indian Idol (2004) in 2023. They both said it was one of their favorite songs.
This film Loafer was adapted from the American film "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961), which was director Frank Capra's remake of his own film "Lady for a Day" (1933). The Hindi film "Singh Is Kinng" (2008) had a similar plotline. It was loosely based on the Hong Kong film "Miracles" (1989) directed by Jackie Chan, which in turn was adapted from "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961).
