James Hadleigh, millionaire, returns to the newspaper owned by his father years ago in a small Yorkshire town....and brings his big-city ideas with him.
Faced with an editor who has both a conscience and a healthy taste for a good story the shakily collaborate on some controversial news stories.
Aided by the lovely Gillian Wray as Susan Jackson....rookie reporter, they take on the troublesome stories and pay the price.
Unsurprisingly these fantastic stories are written by Robert Barr, more famous for his radio dramas...often police-based.
Absolutely top notch acting all around and although presented as a budget mini series, these 13 episodes make up an absolutely beautifully done dramatic series...as good as anything done in the last 20 years.
This series was followed by Hadleigh....another 13 episode series which I expect to be of the same fine quality.
I have it available and will do a review of it upon viewing it.
