Surprise! Nine Inch Nails have a new album that they're putting out on Columbia later this year.
Trent Reznor admitted that he hasn't exactly been upfront about Nin's plans. "I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately," he said in a press release sent out by the label. "For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f--king great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, How to Destroy Angels and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!"
Notice anything ... different? Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder aren't members...

Trent Reznor is probably a happier camper now that Rush has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Turns out, the Nine Inch Nails frontman is a huge fan.
"Yeah," Reznor said when asked by CBC Q's host Jian Ghomeshi regarding his love of the Canadian rock icons. "Mid, probably 12, 13 years old. Every male friend I knew that played in a band were air drumming to 'Yyz' and Rush and every guitar player was trying to play those parts."
"We call it YYZed, but yeah," Ghomeshi jokingly interjected.
"I can forgive you for that," Reznor said with a laugh. "It was just part of being in a band. You know it was kind of like if someone was going to try out for your band you'd have them play 'Spirit Of The Radio' or something. That was just the language that everyone spoke back in that world.

Good news, for Nine Inch Nails fans; they can now satisfy any '90s Nin nostalgia with a viewing of "Closure," a 1997 documentary about the band recently made available online.
The 75-minute video was posted to Nine Inch Nails' Tumblr this week. The band explains the video as "a documentary of Nine Inch Nails’ 1994-1996 'Self Destruct' tour, including concert and behind-the-scenes footage." This footage includes appearances by Marilyn Manson and David Bowie and copious amounts of long-haired '90s mosh pitters head banging to the band's early hits.
"Closure" was originally released on VHS in 1997. The video (which includes Nsfw content) can be viewed above.
While Nine Inch Nails played a farewell tour in 2009, the band is set to rebuild under the direction of frontman Trent Reznor. Reznor has introduced new faces to the group, including Jane's Addiction's Eric Avery, and announced that the band has plans to tour,...
