Long before this episode was released, multiple people in real life attempted to go over the Niagara Falls in a barrel, the first recorded attempt dating back from 1901, by a school teacher named Annie Edison Taylor, also one of those who survived. Due to the obvious danger of going over the falls, and actual casualties, any stunt of this kind has been made illegal in both sides of the border since 1951, possibly making this one of the most realistic episodes of Woody Woodpecker ever produced.
The short became the most popular Woody Woodpecker cartoon.
The title refers to Niagara Falls that straddle the international border between the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York and is traditionally a very popular destination for honeymooners.
Its restored version has been attached as a post-credit of the direct-to-video hybrid film adaptation of Woody Woodpecker (2017).
