The King and I (1999)

Trivia

The King and I

Edit
In response to the overwhelmingly negative reviews, the estates of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II have declared that there are to be no more animated features based on their musicals.
In a February 17, 2009 interview on NPR's Fresh Air, Ted Chapin, President of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, said he considered allowing this movie to be made his "biggest mistake in terms of granting or denying permission" to any of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's works.
Tuptim's survival to the end of this film is actually historically accurate. Chao Chom Manda Tabtim Rojandis became one of the wives of Chulalongkorn and had many descendants, including Princess Vudhichalerm Vudhijaya.
An animated adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Oklahoma" was canceled after this film flopped commercially and critically.
This is the first Richard Rich's animated film to be distributed by Warner Bros. under the Warner Bros. Family Entertainment label, produced only by Morgan Creek Entertainment, co-produced by Rich Animation Studios and associated by Nest Family Entertainment and Rankin/Bass Productions.
