Based upon the "Biggles" books of William Earle Johns.
Shown from March - October 1960, each episode only had a 4 to 5 day shooting schedule, with a day for editing. The reason there was no second series is because the cast and crew were all exhausted after filming 44 episodes back to back, with very little rehearsal time allocated.
Unusually for a 60 plus year old UK TV series, all episodes still exist in the Granada TV archive and have been released on DVD.
