Six episodes of this series were filmed, however none were broadcast on network television. Dolly stated at the time that she would not return to television unless the show and character she was portraying was a perfect fit for her. After countless complications, Dolly and Walt Disney Productions stopped production on this series. Dolly and Disney tried to retool the show into another sitcom, Mindin' My Own Business (1996), it too failed to air on network television.
Boyd Gaines, three time Tony Award winner, who portrayed the town preacher in six episodes of this sitcom, told Playbill in July 2006: "Thank God!" he exclaims. "Dolly was great to work with, but I can't say for publication what kind of mess (the series, shot in 1994).
Dolly Parton chose to shoot the show at Disney's Orlando studio so she could commute to her home in Tennessee. Production executives in Los Angeles watched rehearsals via satellite and submitted their notes over fax and telephone. This primitive long-distance relationship caused headaches on both sides of the country and resulted in it taking six months to produce six episodes.
A videotape with four of the six episodes found its way into circulation. Only one was shot in front of an audience (and it's not the finalized edit), the others are rehearsals that were recorded to show to network executives.
Shot in 1994 and planned as a midseason release in the spring of 1995 before it was permanently shelved.
