Keith Barron and William Mervyn in It's Dark Outside (1964)

Trivia

It's Dark Outside

Edit
Producer Derek Bennett spoke to the 'Daily Mirror' following the broadcast of the final episode: "I have had a fantastic amount of abusive mail from viewers. People have called the shows filthy, disgusting and too sexy. There were a few who liked them. About 9-1 were against. I still think there is an audience for dramatic emotions and situations. But viewers must grow up and be more adult."
Ten editions out of the sixteen made for this series are not known to survive in the archives; the missing episodes are all from the second season.
After making "It's Dark Outside," William Mervyn would reprise his role in his own series, "Mr. Rose."
In May 1965 the song "Where Are You Now", performed by Jackie Trent, went to the top of the UK singles charts. The tune had been specifically commissioned from Tony Hatch by Granada for the series' second season; written and recorded in only four days in December 1964, it was the first of many compositions penned by the duo.
