Terry Farrell, Ted Danson, Alex Désert, Shawnee Smith, and Hattie Winston in Becker (1998)

Trivia

Becker

Edit
Before the fourth season, Terry Farrell, Hattie Winston, Shawnee Smith, Alex Désert, and Saverio Guerra staged a protest over their salaries by refusing to show up for work. The five actors had expected a pay raise after the third season but did not receive one. They filed a lawsuit against Paramount Television for breach of contract. The suit was eventually settled and the actors returned to work.
Throughout the first season, Linda (Shawnee Smith) is seen wearing a lab coat even though neither Dr. Becker nor Nurse Margaret wear one. This is because Smith was pregnant with her first child at the time and used the lab coat to hide her pregnancy. She also used various props, such as patient charts and purses, to help conceal it.
Actress Shawnee Smith fronted a punk-rock band, called Fydolla Ho, while appearing on Becker. She used the summer hiatus time in between seasons to perform and go on tour. Each cast member, including Ted Danson, went to see a Fydolla Ho show.
There have been numerous references to Ted Danson's previous/best-known series, Cheers (1982). Co-stars George Wendt, Rhea Perlman, and Kelsey Grammer all appeared on "Becker" in ironic subtexts, reversing the status quo on "Cheers". Wendt played the barman to Danson's character - on Cheers (1982), Danson played the barman to Wendt's character. Grammer played an alcoholic friend of Danson's Harvard-graduate doctor - on Cheers (1982) and Frasier (1993), Danson played an ex-alcoholic and Grammer played the Harvard-graduate doctor. Rhea Perlman appeared as a therapist with an optimistic view on life, with Danson as the misanthropic and mean-spirited character - on Cheers (1982), Danson played the usually cheery and good-humored character and Perlman was the one loudly unhappy with her life. Also, on "Becker", the character of Margaret's husband, Lewis, is never seen, a gag in the tradition of Cheers (1982), in which Norm's wife, Vera, was never seen, and Frasier (1993), in which Niles' wife, Maris, was never seen.
Mary Steenburgen, Ted Danson's real-life wife, appeared on the last episode of 'Becker', just as she would later do on the finale of The Good Place (2016), in which Danson also starred.
