Lead actor "Charles Stuart" was actually a notorious jewel thief called Stanley Thurston, causing the film to be banned by some local authorities until changes to the script had been made.
This marked the first appearance in a Hammer production for actor Michael Ripper. Over the next quarter century, he would hold the record for appearing in more Hammer productions, in bit and supporting roles, than any other actor.
