Initially, producer Emile Sherman wanted actor Ben Mendelsohnto play the character of Andy who in the end was portrayed by actor Simon Lyndon. Writer-director Clinton Smith said: "But he always gets blokey roles so I wanted to cast him against type and he just fell in love with this camp goth, glam punk character."
Actress Kylie Minogue and actor Ben Mendelsohn had both previously worked on two Australian television series, Neighbours (1985) and The Henderson Kids (1985), as well as the Australian TV mini-series Fame and Misfortune (1986).
Of the movie's star, Kylie Minogue, writer-director Clinton Smith said: "She's so professional and really lovely and normal and just nice. You hear how big stars are often consummate professionals, and she's like that. Not at all demanding and ready to take direction."
The film's soundtrack peaked at the No. #38 rank stayed there for one week in the 14/05/2000 chart from the all-time Australian Soundtrack charts.
Final acting role in screen performance of actor and writer-producer-director John Dick who played the character of a Crazed Old Man.
