Laurens Jan has received a substantial amount of money from his father and begins trading stock. Sjaan and Luus want to invest too, against Bertus and Lex' objections.
Bertus plans a grand Christmas diner for all his old friends who are less well off, like Sjors. Sjaan tries to couple Sjors with Luus instead. L.J. tries to get everyone interested in his poetry.
Laurens Jan buys an antique vase cheaply, then has it auctioned so he can buy a first edition children's book. But Bertus and Lex insist that the money goes to the original owner, Bertus old school teacher.
Lex, Bertus and Sjaan are off to celebrate Carnaval, but nobody wants to drive back, so they take Laurens Jan along, even though he has an important case the next morning (and no driving license).
Punneke, the 15 year old daughter of one of Lex's many ex-girlfriends wants to stay with Lex. When Luus objects to her pet rat, she tries her luck with Bertus.
