Edit
Iva Janzurová turned down the part of Dr. Alice Vánová, eventually played by Regina Rázlová.
Jirí Hrzán was originally cast as Justa, but shortly before filming he broke his collarbone and was replaced by Ivan Vyskocil.
Jaroslava Obermaierová was considered for the part of Dr. Alice Vánová, eventually played by Regina Rázlová.
During the filming actor Josef Dvorák lost his front teeth. In his hometown of Kadan, he reportedly refused to toast with someone in a pub, saying that the next day he was filming difficult scenes in Ostrava. He was insulted and then needed to get dentures done quickly for filming.
Hynek Bocan didn't want to make the film, but he was told that if he didn't, he would never make another film again. He had a five-year ban behind him, so he finally accepted.
