Despite much confusion, the answer is no; there is no connection between this film and the film Arcadia of My Youth beyond the fact that both feature the character of Captain Harlock. This film is a thirty-five minute theatrical featurette created in 1978 as a spin-off from the then-current Space Pirate Captain Harlock television series. The bulk of this feature is taken from the thirteenth episode of the series, excising some old scenes and interpolating several new ones emphasizing the relationships between Harlock and his ward Mayu Oyama, and the strange empathy both share with the pirate ship Arcadia's central computer.
