Gulaal is used traditionally to celebrate Holi, but producer Sattee Shourie and director 'Anil Sharma' had ordered about 1,000 kgs. of this red powder for an important action sequence.
Saif Ali Khan stated that the producer ran out of money near the end of the film. A chase scene was to filmed on a few wild cheetah's chasing Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna (who were riding bikes). The actual cheetah's were used when Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna took off on motorbikes.A few shots of the cheetah's running was used. But during the final shooting spell, Satee Shourie could not afford to hire cheetah's again. So to complete the scene, she decorated some Labrador dogs and made them look like cheetah's. Shots of the dogs were used during the chase scene.
Swapna claimed it was from Dharmendra's recommendation she signed the film and not Anil Sharma. She complained in the media that Satee Shourie had not paid her staff for the film. Satee in turn claimed that Swapna brought way too many people with her go the shooting schedule who expected her to pay the hotel's bill. Satee cleared all their dues but claimed Swapna was unprofessional as no one else brought extra staff with them, including Rajnikanth.
Producer Satee Shourie fought with Anil Sharma after the film was almost complete. She accused him of being unprofessional. Going over budget, reporting late, using her money to make his home production Tahelka.She accused him.of delaying the film. Anil Sharma denied all allegations.
