The movie is loosely based on Robert Zemeckis's 1984 action adventure - romantic comedy "Romancing the stone" starring Michael Douglas.
This movie would be followed several successful collaborations between RGV and S. Bhattacharya including Gaayam (1993) and Satya (1998).
