Tolerable all-sex Sarno offering, shot on film

Running through the catalog of Joe Sarno product I've discovered his shot-on-video efforts are a washout, but there are watchable late-career entries shot on film. This is a marginally tolerable one of those.

Blair Castle, better known as Brooke Fields, is the star but Cody Nicole is more impressive here, not just (as we are reminded by the co-stars from time to time) because of her 6-ft. 1-inch frame, I guess making her the Maria Sharapova of porn (don't quote me). It's just that Fields is pretty terrible, sleepwalking through the film with eyes averted or closed, and a horrendous curly hairdo.

They play old school chums (an overused cliché of Sarno's anonymous '80s period) who bump into each other jogging. Turns out Blair has married Cody's old school flame Wilson (an uncredited Joey Silvera), leading to predictable shenanigans.

There's no script credit and it's easy to see why: Sarno has the most minimal of set-up scenes, with cast members humping each other at a moment's notice. Running 86 minutes in the Video-X-Pix DVD version it is overlong for an all-sex opus.

The sex scenes are uninspired, with Danielle not surprisingly taking top honors with a closeup fellatio outing that is a turn-on. Nicole's endless legs would seem to encourage exploitation, but she's not photographed in a particularly flattering manner. At least her acting is up to snuff.

Because of the slapdash approach one scene proved disconcerting; Blair gets a new job working as secretary to Sarno regular Michael Knight and unbelievably immediately services him. Karen Summers catches them in the act, and starts to faint, but her motion carries her into a blow job of Knight -extremely awkward & hokey direction. The resulting threesome is standard porn, but lo & behold, in the next scene when Blair is feeling guilty she tells Cody about the incident, noting offhandedly that Summers is Knight's sister! Incest is a recurring theme throughout Sarno's career, but this is such an off-handed treatment of the topic that it makes suspect the "deep psychological insight" that his biographer/apologist applied in the over-the-top liner notes issued with THE INDELICATE BALANCE.

If the MST3K boys handled hardcore porn, this would be a logical choice to razz. Typical of the nonchalant (read: incompetent) approach is a scene where Mara invites Tom over to visit, to service Blair. The guy says" "Hi, I'm Tom...Mara sent me?" as he grabs naked Blair and she's sucking his long Johnson without further ado. What's my motivation translates into "a paycheck" in this movie.

Non-story inevitably leads to lesbo activity between Cody and Blair and what sort of constitutes a twist ending regarding Wilson's status. It's strictly scenes-to-masturbate-by, with the video box carelessly calling Blair's character June instead of Jane.
