      A Heartbreaking Love Story

This heartbreaking drama was shown in October 1975 (not 1976 as erroneously written above) and was the very first team-up of Vilma Santos and Christopher De Leon. Produced by the defunct Archipelago Films, Inc. and directed by Celso Ad. Castillo, this film was about the incestuous young love between first cousins Nanette (Vilma) and Rod (Christopher)and how their families break them apart because of the consequences of their doomed union. One of the biggest hits during its time, "Tag-Ulan" also boasted of many firsts: the first screen kiss of Vilma Santos; the first actress-director team-up of Vilma and Celso Ad Castillo (they would later reunite in two award-winning films namely "Burlesk Queen" (1977) and "Pagputi ng Uwak, Pag-tum ng Tagak" (1978)and, as mentioned, the very first team-up of Vilma and Christopher among the almost 20 movies they have made together. The highlight of this movie is the ending. One of the greatest and most affecting endings ever witnessed in local cinema. This film is now available on VCD at your favorite outlets (SM; Astrovision; Landmark).
