Kôichi Yamadera (Michael Suzuki) and Megumi Hayashibara (Maria) were in Shin'ichirô Watanabe's space mercenary show Cowboy Bebop (1998). Watanabe has cited "Lupin III" as an influence on his work, primarily Cowboy Bebop.
Lupin refuses to let anyone make a clone of him. This is a homage to Lupin the 3rd: The Mystery of Mamo (1978), where cloning was a major plot element.
