Diana Dors' son, Mark Dawson, claims that the series got the story wrong, and offers a different portrayal of his mother.
Eddie Gibb of the Sunday Herald wrote "This is a sad story badly told."
The series was produced by LWT for ITV.
Keeley Hawes (Diana Dors) & Rupert Graves (Dennis Hamilton) also worked together on Ashes to Ashes (2008) as Alex Drake & Danny Moore respectively.
The Blonde Bombshell was first shown on 26 and 27 April 1999.
