Will Be of Interest to Film Buffs

    Forecast (1945)

    *** (out of 4)

This here is a rather interesting piece of Hollywood history as MGM sales manager William F. Rodgers introduces an upcoming slate of films. This was clearly meant to be for theater owners just to show that MGM had the biggest stars out there and this film shows clips from some of their upcoming movies including UNDERCURRENT, NO LEAVE NO LOVE, TENTH AVENUE ANGEL, THE SHOW OFF and others. We also get a brief mention of five upcoming Technicolor pictures (including THE YEARLING) and other more "serious" pictures from the studio. I think film buffs are going to enjoy watching this for a couple of reasons. The first is that it gives you a chance to see a part of Hollywood history as they would try to sell themselves back in the day. Rodgers little introduction isn't all that wonderful and I can't say many of the clips would make me overly excited about the movies but that's another subject. The biggest reason one would want to check this out is just being able to see a few of the films under different titles. The Greer Garson picture DESIRE ME is sold here as A WOMAN OF MY OWN. The Andy Hardy film LOVE LAUGHS AT ANDY HARDY is shown here as UNCLE ANDY HARDY. At just around twenty-minutes the film runs on a bit too long to be fully entertaining but a certain group will still find it interesting.
