- Guia Lauri Filzi cheats on her husband with younger lovers and with Marina Hedman but eventually a threesome between herself, her husband and Marisa Aresu comes to fruition. Marisa also has a lesbian affair with Elena (Elisabeth Thulin).
- Luica is a virgin when marrying young, with Renzo. He half-admits he is not a virgin himself, or half-denies he is. But now they have found each other, they have decided to stay with, and love, each other forever. It's almost summer holiday season and difficult to find hotel accommodation. They rent a house from a Mr. Ortenzi who let newly-weds spend their honeymoon alone, which is a first time alone together for Lucia and Renzo. But having moved from a rural village, married life in the city changes Lucia, and with the many encounters and "possibilites" offered in the city she soon adopts a more urban way of life. We also meet Elena who is a housewife to the well-off Piero who has many business and social obligations. To fulfill her own sexual needs, she takes daytime paying johns for clients, sometimes offering her pleasurably kinky activities. By contrast, Simona is a desperately poor young woman, finding she has no choice but to rent her body to clients to make a living. Some men even want to marry her, based on false assumptions about her and Simona must fend them off, and keep running, figuratively speaking. Eventually, a few of these characters' paths will cross with a few others', in a movie depicting and criticizing class differences and the unjust disparity in being able to choose how to live one's life and one's acquaintances including one's erotic liaisons.
