    Wood The Cross-Dresser

    Mrs. Stone's Thing (1970)

    * 1/2 (out of 4)

    Mrs. Stone (Karen Johnson) is a bored housewife who wants to know what type of parties her husband (Victor Rich) goes to. Whenever he returns home he's worn out sexually so she manages to talk her way into going to one and quickly learns that it's an orgy.

    MRS. STONE'S THING comes from director Joseph F. Robertson and is best remembered today for featuring a performance by Edward D. Wood, Jr. Robertson had directed Wood the previous year in LOVE FEAST but this film here has Wood in a minor role so fans of his should be warned that he doesn't play the lead here. For the most part this here is an ultra-cheap and somewhat poorly-written sexploitation title that doesn't have much going for it.

    If you're expecting any sort of plot then you can forget it because there's very little to none. You'd think that the set-up of having a wife visit an orgy party would lead to something but it really doesn't. If your idea of entertainment is a plot-less film with a lot of nudity then you've come to the right place because there's a lot of that. The 76-minute running time features a lot of very pretty girls running around without any clothes on.

    Jack King gets credited as "Big Fat Man" and he honestly steals the picture as he's trying to seduce a big woman. The two of them have a lot of "adventures" throughout the running time and it's actually pretty funny. As far as Wood goes, he's basically playing a man who likes to wear women's clothing and we get several scenes of him changing and doing things like that. In all honesty he's actually pretty good in the picture but it's too bad he wasn't given a tad bit more to do.

    Suburban wife discovers love, sex and orgies

    This one is classic 60s/70s soft porn. Mrs Stone wonders why her husband has been going to lots of parties lately and why he's "no good for sex for a week after". Conceding, Mr Stone takes her to the 'party', a full on orgy of sex, bodypainting, skinnydipping and other "perversions". The orgy and it's aftermath take up the remainder of the film. Gays, lesbians, and Edward D. Wood Jr. as a rather shy transvestite. Wood's contribution to the movie is rather sad. He doesn't look well and at times seems a little disoriented. But leaving that aside, the orgy scenes are interesting, with a diversity of body types that you don't see in modern films. As an example of sexploitation movies of the era, it's an interesting artefact.
