It was speculated but unconfirmed that You Bet! is loosely based on The Running Man (1987) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger which is based on the novel by Stephen King. The movie takes place in 2017 and in the movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars Ben Richards, a wrongly convicted Los Angeles police helicopter pilot who is forced to participate in a sadistic TV gameshow called "The Running Man", where criminals are forced to run and fight for their lives as they are hunted by hi-tech assassins called Stalkers. In the movie, people watching 'The Running Man" bet their money on the Stalkers hunting the contestants.
