Vishwanath was Subhash Ghai's second film as director.
This is one of few films where perennial villains Yusuf Khan (Zabisco from Amar Akbar Anthony) and Manik Irani (Billa) played positive roles.
After the film where ever Ranjeet went people would shout out at him his famous dialogue from the film "Kabhi Kabhi ..Once In A Blue Moon". Ranjeet would get angry thinking people were making fun of him. It was only later he realized that people were paying him a compliment and appreciated his performance . The film made Ranjeet a bigger star in the industry.
