Kitaab (1977)

Trivia

Kitaab

Edit
Gulzar stated " Kitaab was not within the framework of narrative cinema. It was a collage of a child's observation. I still feel the documentary approach was the right way to do the film. It flopped because the audience did not understand it. Kitaab is a short story in literature. I consider it my best film.
A instrumental version of the song " Dhanno Ki Aankhon (In Dhanno's Eyes)" was in the album Asha Bhosle & Kronos Quartet , You've Stolen My Heart. Song's From R.D. Burman's Bollywood. This album was released internationally.
The song "Chori Ke Baatein" from Fight Club (2006), was a Pakistani melody remixed for the film. The original was sung by Ali Zafar titled "Channo". A part of the tune was also very similar to R. D. Burman's song Dhanno Ki Aankhon from Kitaab. A part of the intro music was also inspired by the song Chori Chori by Alaap from the album Pattaka. "Dhanno Ki Aankh Sharaabi" from Lal Badshah also had similar lyrics.
