Detention (1999)

Trivia

Detention

Edit
The show was canceled after one short season for two reasons: First, the show was put up against Disney's Recess (1997), which was a much bigger hit; Second, Bob Doucette stated in an interview that the show wasn't what The WB wanted even though it was one of the highest-rated shows on the Kids WB block. Also, there was a troubled relationship between the show's production staff and the executives at Warner Bros.
Jim Kim's voice actor Roger Eschbacher wrote "The Man With the Golden Brain".
Warner Archive released the complete series on DVD in May 2019, 20 years after the show premiered.
Billy West also auditioned for the voice of Gug, but Kids' WB wanted an actual Hispanic actor for the role. Bob Doucette chose Carlos Alazraqui, remembering him from the Taco Bell commercials.
First role for Pamelyn Ferdin since the animated film Heidi's Song (1982). She quit acting after that film to become a nurse. After Detention, she didn't act again until the animated film Elf Sparkle Meets Christmas the Horse (2009), which was her last role.
