Trance and Dance in Bali

I don't really know enough about Bali to properly evaluate the importance of this film. In fact, I think it's safe to say I know nothing at all about Bali. But I have a basic understanding of Margaret Mead and the importance she had in 20th century anthropology.

In the 20th century, native cultures were dying out. Fewer and fewer places were not part of the "modern world". Today (2016) this is even more true, and I wonder if any place on earth is still truly native. But anyway, Mead was able to record these cultures and we are fortunate that in this case the people of Bali were captured on film. I suspect the dances and rituals shown in this film are already, 50 years later, no longer practiced.
