Italian immigrant Giuseppe started off with one ice cream stall and now owns 7 restaurants and a factory. He objects to his daughter Marina wearing a revealing dress during an important dinner.
Giuseppe thinks Lisa spends too much time in her antique shop and not enough time in the kitchen. Then Marina upsets him even more by saying she has found a job with a rival ice cream shop.
Marina offers to find out the secret of her father's competitor for none fattening ice cream. Giuseppe and Lisa both want to have an antique ice cream maker for their separate businesses.
Giuseppe is dismayed to find Marina's girlfriend Peter exiting in the shower. But because of an accident in the ice cream shop, he ends up with an unknown woman in his shower as well.
The street in front of Cassata is being reworked during the day and Peter and Marina are loudly practicing their song about foreign laborers in the evening.
Marina brings home a cat to which her father is allergic. On top of that his car has been burglarized, leaving him without his purse and all his papers.
