Late Silent Greek Film Is OK

:Aliki Theodorides is a serving girl at the farm of Aimilios Veakis. She is in love with Veakis' son, Kostas Mousouris, and he with her. Veakis berates her constantly and tells the younger man he must marry a rich woman. He is hiding a guilty secret: it is not his farm. It belongs to a political prisoner who leaves it all to Miss Theodorides. Veakis burns the paperwork.

This late silent Greek movie has a standard plot, and everyone always seems to wear their Sunday best and is fully made up at all times; Miss Theorides looks pretty, rather than beautiful, and is given to long, soulful looks. Director Dimitris Gaziadis offers us views of the millennia-ravaged lands at the start, with an abrupt change near the end as a happy ending becomes imminent.
