This movie generated a huge controversy upon release. The content was considered too obscene and the women rights groups in the then state of Andhra Pradesh demanded that the movie be censored again and the objectionable content removed. Accordingly the film certification board re-censored the movie several scenes were removed. However, the movie already ran for nearly 100 days in the theaters by that time, and watched by millions of movie goers, making the second censor process purposeless. The movie version available on YouTube contains the first version.
