Passengers of the Los Angeles County Metro bus system now can watch full episodes of One Economy's groundbreaking web-series, Los Americans, delivered in shortened segments through the Transit TV broadcast network Monday through Friday. Los Americans is an eight-part series that focuses on a multi-generational, middle-income Latino family living in Los Angeles. The Valenzuela family deals with many issues facing American families today, including: unemployment, cultural identity and alcoholism. The series features Latino-Americans in a realistic and complex manner seldom seen on television or the Internet.
While the series portrays some of the experiences unique to the Latino community, such as the challenges of straddling two cultures, the series also shows that much of the family’s struggles can be identified with families from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Following each episode of Los Americans, viewers will be directed to online resources and information offering solutions and help for the issues portrayed in the program.

Earlier we shared some clips from ABC's upcoming lineup. Today we have a full trailer for The River from Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. The show follows the search for a missing nature TV host. The pilot episode was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan) based on a script by Michael R. Perry and Michael Green.
The show stars Bruce Greenwood, Joe Anderson, Paul Blackthorne, Paulina Gaitan, Leslie Hope,Eloise Mumford, Shaun Parkes, Thomas Kretschmann and Daniel Zacapa. Peli sure does love to use found footage on his projects, and uses it again on the smaller screen. The cast and the concept make this one show I am interested in seeing.
Plot Description:
"The River" follows the story of wildlife expert and TV personality Emmet Cole. Emmet set course around the world with his wife, Tess, and son, Lincoln, while filming what would become one of the most popular shows in television.

ABC has a slew of new shows coming, many of which need a lot of luck if they're going to last more than a handful of episodes. The schedule has been released, so let's take a lot at what's coming.
Oddly enough, as part of the new announcement, ABC has solidified the return of several more shows, including Happy Endings, despite the fact that two other networks have shows on their slate with cast members from the show. That should be interesting. Of course, it works for me, because I'm a fan.
In other news, Desperate Housewives will not die. Are you kidding me with this show still being on?

Pan Am
Passion, jealousy and espionage... They do it all - and they do it at 30,000 feet. The style of the 1960s, the energy and excitement of the Jet Age and a drama full of sexy entanglements deliciously mesh in this thrilling and highly-original new series. In this modern world, air travel represents the height of luxury and Pan Am is the biggest name in the business.

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

For three years Robert Townsend has been working as one of the more prolific and successful web series directors around, trying to do good with a number of projects with socially progressive non-profit One Economy. With over 30 years in the industry, Townsend is an understated but respected player in black Hollywood. Perhaps best known for his sitcom The Parent ’Hood and film Meteor Man – at least to me! – Townsend continues to work, making documentaries and films, most recently directing and producing a number of successful web series, including Diary of a Single Mom and the upcoming Los Americans. “It’s for the web but we’re trying something different,” Townsend said in an interview. For Townsend, these series, targeted at multicultural audiences, are not just a job but a philosophy. Diary, whose third season premiered last week, tells the story of a single mother, Ocean (Monica Calhoun, The Best Man,...

Season 2 of "bicultural dramedy" web series Ylse (pronounced Eel-Say) kicked off today starting a 12-episode return. Ruth Livier, who's also the creator and lead writer of the series, is back as Ylse, an aspiring TV host working her way up the talk show circuit hoping to one day reach the level of her espoused idol Oprah. For now, however, Ylse is stuck in the dregs of the TV world on a bizarre Spanish language talk show. We've had our eye on this series for a while now, and we're glad to see it back for another season. The series had been picking up fans over the past year which included locking up a distribution deal with LatinHeat.com last fall and scoring the "Best Webisode" award at the 2009 Reel Rasquache Festival. Livier's bilingual script effortlessly jumps from English to Spanish, making the comedy easily accessible even for us Spanish newbies.

How do you pronounce Ylse? It’s like eel-say. Or, as the main character emphatically states in the series’ first episode, “Think illegal and sexy.” Sounds easy enough, but some people at the male-dominated news network just don’t know how to hit the hard Spanish vowels. They also take Ylse’s guide to pronunciation a little too seriously. Alas, the misnaming turns out be but a symptom of a larger dilemma our Latina protagonist has with her job and cultural identity. Created by and starring Resurrection Blvd. actress Ruth Livier (who originally developed the series as a TV pilot), Ylse is the story of a strong-minded aspiring journalist with a kinda catty entertainment talk show and a intense worship of Oprah. Seriously. In episode 2 we learn the character has a shrine in the corner of her room with pictures of the big O and chants her name to relieve...

After watching the third episode of the HBO series True Blood, I've come to the conclusion that Ryan Kwanten's body deserves special consideration at next year's Emmy awards, and that Alan Ball has presented us with one of the most vampire-batcrap insane hours ever seen on TV.
We start off where we left last week, with Sookie paying a visit to her bloodsucking paramour,??Bill, only to be confronted at his door by the Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living, And Became Effed Up Vampires.
There are three of them, sort of a Mod Squad: Vampire Edition (one white, one black ...one bald). There's Diane, who wears a gold lame dress and a wig stolen from Chaka Khan circa Through The Fire, Malcolm, whose head keeps distracting me (he looks like he overdosed on Ronco's Spray-On Hair??... seriously, I kept expecting Ron Popeil to come on screen to give...

People Meter pulls in protesters
The battle over the launch of Nielsen Media Research's local People Meter service came to Los Angeles on Monday as activists held a news conference on the steps of City Hall to criticize Nielsen for what its detractors view as a systemic problem of undercounting minority television viewership. "If Nielsen gets its way, minority viewership could be dramatically undercounted, and the civil rights of Latinos and African Americans will be shortchanged with less programming, less economic opportunities and less influence in the media marketplace," said Alex Nogales, president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. "This is an issue of civil rights for the entire entertainment industry." Joining Nogales at the morning news conference organized by the Don't Count Us Out coalition of advocacy groups and lawmakers were Rep. Hilda Solis, D-Los Angeles, Los Angeles City Council members Bernard Parks and Jan Perry and producers Moctesuma Esparza (Selena), Josefina Lopez (Real Women Have Curves) and Dennis Leoni (Showtime's Resurrection Blvd.).

'Resurrection' finds new life with Heritage
New York-based Heritage Networks has beefed up its roster of off-network programming by securing the distribution rights to the Showtime drama series Resurrection Blvd. from Paramount Domestic Television. Heritage has also struck a deal with Paramount to handle the barter advertising sales on the UPN sitcom The Parkers. Both Resurrection, which just wrapped a three-year run on Showtime, and The Parkers, now in its fourth season on UPN, are set to bow in syndication in the fall.
