The Welsh title "Pobol y Cwm" translates into English as "People of the Valley".
Many 1974-1980 editions of this series are lost.
Original location-work for the Deri Arms pub was filmed at the Sportsmans Rest in the Vale of Glamorgan's Peterston Super-Ely. The wine and beer served and drunk on-set is actually grape juice and weak shandy, which look better on camera.
The first episode was transmitted at 7.10pm on Wednesday, October 16, 1974. The opening line: "Bore da, Maggie Mathias" (good morning, Maggie Mathias), spoken by Charles Williams' Harri Parri.
