Lucille Ball in Circus of the Stars #2 (1977)

Trivia

Circus of the Stars #2

Edit
Lucie Arnaz returned to "Circus in the Stars" in 1985 (#10).
This program aired two weeks after "Lucy Calls The President", the last time that Lucille Ball worked with Vivian Vance, Mary Jane Croft, and Mary Wickes. Earlier in 1977, Lucy lost her mother, Dede, who was in the studio audience for most all of her appearances.
Comedian Marty Allen makes the second of his eight appearances on "Circus of the Stars", the most of any star.
Setting a table for Tika the baby elephant, Penny Marshall serves milk and Pepsi, the beverage her TV character on "Laverne and Shirley" often drank.
Lucille Ball tells the story of how she was supposed to play the role of the elephant girl in Cecil B. DeMille's epic circus film "The Greatest Show on Earth" (1952) but became pregnant with a little girl. Now all grown up, Lucie Arnaz is on "Circus of the Stars" as the elephant girl. As a finale, Lucie lays on the ground and allows the elephant's foot (with painted nails) to hover inches from her face. This is the same stunt that the elephant girl (played by Gloria Grahame) did in "The Greatest Show on Earth." Before doing it, Lucie calls out "It's alright, Mom!"
