Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood in The Lone Gunmen (2001)

FAQ

The Lone Gunmen

FAQ

The Lone Gunmen (2001) is a spin off from Chris Carter's TV series The X-Files (1993) and revolves around the three "super geeks" running the underground conspiracy tabloid "The Lone Gunman"; John Fitzgerald Byers, Melvin Frohike and Richard 'Ringo' Langly.

It ran for a single season with 13 episodes, ending in a cliffhanger which was resolved in Jump the Shark (2002) giving the series an ending, but it is HIGHLY debatable, if it was proper or contrived, to placate angry fans who were cheated out of several answers, and a fun series , that predicted a terror attack, but the establishment was afraid and embarassed by this.

The character run over by a bus in The X-Files (1993)'s episode "Three of a Kind" was named Jimmy the Geek, and was not the same as The Lone Gunmen's Kimmy the Geek. According to the writers, they wound up liking the character--and the actor who played him--so much that they regretted killing him off, so they eventually brought him back via Kimmy, who was supposedly Jimmy's identical twin brother. However, this explanation is given only in the behind-the-scenes DVD commentaries for The Lone Gunmen, and was not revealed on screen in any episode for either series.

Both Jimmy and Kimmy were played by Jim Fyfe.
