After his blockbuster Ilzaam (1986), director Shibu Mitra made many films together like Aag Hi Aag (1987), Paap Ki Duniya (1988), Gunahon Ka Faisla (1988), Meri Zabaan (1989), Aakhri Ghulam (1989), Kasam Vardi Kee (1989), Naakabandi (1990), Aaj Ke Shahenshah (1990) etc. and mostly of them were successful. Shibu Mitra was in top position in that period.
The original cast of this film was Jeetendra, Rekha, Sanjay Dutt & Farah. All of them had also appeared for the mahurat shot but then Sanjay Dutt was replaced by Chunky Pandey and Rekha was replaced by Bhanupriya, because of dates problems.
It was said Farah had a show down with Chunky Pandey on the sets of this film due to some crude jokes Chunky made. The director politely requested Farah to complete her shots and she eventually complied.
