The Martins (2001)

Trivia

The Martins

Edit
The film's original title was "Tosspot."
Martin Clunes, Hugh Bonneville, and Rowan Atkinson were considered for the role of Robert Martin.
Although the movie is called "The Martins", in the final end credits the lead character's name is spelled Robert Martyn, with a "y".
Most of the scenes were shot in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The houses of the Martins and the mother-in-law are at the side of the Galleria Shopping Centre which appears often in the film. Its frontage is also seen at the movie's start after the truck with the Bounty advertising moves away. The furniture place where Robert and Little Bob play around in the middle of the Galleria is no longer there; it's now a Cafe Nero. The pet shop where they buy a pet for Little Bob's birthday is Jollye's Pet Emporium in Crews Hill. The ice-cream truck where they buy the ice cream isn't outside of it, and it's smaller inside than in the movie.
"Clever clogs" is English slang for a person who is irritatingly and ostentatiously knowledgeable or intelligent.
