Edit
The character of Dragan Bakema, who plays Jakob-Sammy's brother-was originally a hard rocker. This aspect was removed so that the film wouldn't be easily reduced to a specific subculture.
On the website of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, dated January 29, 2001, the directors of the other No More Heroes films commented on each other's projects. Nanouk Leopold: "I actually thought Michiel's film was the most mature. Not so original in its subject, in the sense that there are often films about incest and similar themes, but I thought it was very well-written and well-directed. We watched each other's films in one day, and that was the only film where I forgot we were watching each other's work."

Lodewijk Crijns: "I enjoyed watching real teenage girls. Who walk around in those thick white-soled shoes and ride on scooters."
Director Michiel van Jaarsveld: "Because what happens on screen is already intense enough, the set design was chosen with soft colors like light blue and green with a silver sheen. Not only were the walls painted in these colors, but they were also reflected in the clothes the actors wore. In the end, Christel Oomen does wear a red sweater at one point, because she is deliberately dressed in a whorish manner."
The movie was part of the NO MORE HEROES project, initiated by VPRO and the Dutch Filmfund.
Among all the girls who auditioned, Van Jaarsveld immediately spotted Christel Oomen, but he still had her come back four times among the 15-year-old actresses auditioning, to ensure she could portray all aspects of the role. The most challenging part was convincing her of the necessity of the nude scenes.
