Nassar's character of Pandian attained iconic status, and later became "the face of all memes and posts related to harassment at the workplace."
There was statment from the director of the Hindi version that Kamal Haasan made the Hindi version to show a income tax loss. There was never any intention for the film to be released and even it some how did, the film would flop due to its non salable star cast. The film was finally made in Hindi as Hello Darling.
Reena Roy, Anita Raj, Asha Sachdev TV serial Eena Meena Deeka was originally aired with the title " Ladies Only". After 9 months it was changed due to legal issues. The serial had shades of the Dolly Parton movie 9 to 5. Anita Raj's character was a nurse who was harassed by her boss at work. Reena Roy's character had faced harassment at her work. What was amazing was the Kamal Hasaan made a film titled "Ladies Only" that was a remake of Dolly Parton movie 9 to 5. The film was made and unreleased due to legal issue's. Finally in 2010 a film titled "Hello Darling" was released and that was also a remake of 9 to 5.
