Isabel Rose can actually sing and play the piano. She is a real life cabaret performer around New York City and also has put out a few albums under her own name over the years.
The film is an homage to musicals of the past that were shot in Cinemascope or Anamorphic Widescreen such as "Royal Wedding" which Isabel Rose is watching on television in one scene and her transformation nightmare scene in the club which turns into a musical spectacle.
Elliot's apartment and space where he and Billie play together was a wherehouse located not far from the Silvercup Studios in Long Island City. That location has now been torn down and the area has been redeveloped into skyscrapers and condominiums.
The film takes place during the late Summer and Fall seasons which explains Billie wearing a blue pea coat during one scene and her and Elliot wearing long coats for the scenes before and after the wedding they play in.
Filmed entirely in and around New York City on location.
