Shakti Samanta, Sanjeev Kumar and Rati Aghnihotri work toghether for the firsr time, Ravindra Jain and Shakti Samanta work together in this film second and last time. Anand Bakshi Shakti Films regular, was the lyricts.in this film. Shakti Samanta sometimes made unusual films like Amar Prem, Anuraag, Amanush and Ayaash is of that genre.
Shakti Samantha offered the film to Rajesh Khanna but he declined as he did not want to play the role of a older man. This caused friction between Shakti and Rajesh Khanna for a few years.
Shakti Samanta stated "I produced and directed this Sanjeev Kumar, Rati Agnihotri and Anil Govil starrer too but it didn't run. It was a remake of a Bengali film that had been very successful. It was a zamindaron ki kahani. May be people here weren't able to identify with the oppression of the rich landlords."
