Turkan Soray is 32 years old and Kadir Inanir is 28 years old at the time of filming.
The movie was shot in Osmaniye, which was a district of Adana at that time. The dam that Ilyas worked on is the Aslantas dam, which is also located in Osmaniye.
The film is adapted from the book "Red Scarf" by Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov. A movie from this adaptation was shot in the USSR before, but Selvi Boylum did not make as much noise as Al Yazmalim.
