The film Sundarakilladi is a cinematic work belonging to the romantic drama thriller genres, directed by Murali Krishnan.
The narrative is set in Swapnabhoomi, a village characterised by a confluence of cultures and traditions. When the village faces a water shortage, the decision is made to dig a well, and the villagers approached a young man named Premachandran to undertake the task. Hailing from the Killadi family, renowned for its expertise in well digging, Premachandran is also known as Sundarakilladi. However, he lacks the knowledge and skills of his ancestors in this domain. Nevertheless, he undertakes the task of digging a well in Swapnabhoomi, accompanied by some friends. During the course of the well-digging, Devayani, a young woman from the village, arrives to assist them. They encounter numerous challenges in their endeavour, and Sundarakilladi sustains serious injuries. Devayani arranges for him to receive treatment, and a romantic connection between them blossoms. However, an external individual harbouring affection for the village girl contravenes the established regulations of the village. Consequently, the villagers are poised to expel Devayani from their community. Nevertheless, Sundarakilladi has already completed the excavation of the well and discovered water within it, a development that introduces a pivotal twist in the narrative's culminating scenes.
The narrative was engaging and impressive, with some apparent loopholes in the plot, yet the direction was effective. The performances by the cast were the soul of the film, and all were commendable. Additionally, the musical scores were satisfactory. The film is suitable for recommending and for a one time watching.
