Roo's character originally was like a toddler, was done by a puppet, and would most often be sitting on something like Eeyore or Tigger's back, Kanga's pouch, or his high chair; later his character was portrayed more like a preschooler and it was able to walk around in more scenes and was never in his mother's pouch.
The song, "The Right Side", was originally written for Mary Poppins (1964).

Hal Smith is the only actor from the original Winnie the Pooh cast to reprise his role on this show.
